Job Title: Middle School Assistant Wrestling Coach

Organization: East Grand Middle School 

Position Summary

The Assistant Middle School Wrestling Coach is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and directing aspects of the middle school wrestling program. This includes coaching athletes, developing and implementing practice plans, managing equipment, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs that address the physical, technical, and tactical needs of middle school wrestlers.

• Coach athletes in all aspects of wrestling, including:

• Fundamental techniques (e.g., takedowns, escapes, pins)

• Strategy and game planning

• Conditioning and strength training

• Sportsmanship and ethical behavior

• Plan and conduct daily practices, including warm-up, drills, conditioning, and skill development.

• Prepare athletes for competition, including:

• Weight management and nutrition

• Mental preparation and motivation

• Maintain accurate records of athlete participation, attendance, and performance.

• Order and maintain wrestling equipment and supplies.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes, including proper supervision, injury prevention, and emergency procedures.

• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administrators.

• Promote a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.

• Adhere to all school policies and athletic regulations.

• Attend coaching clinics and professional development workshops to enhance coaching skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Prior experience coaching wrestling at the middle school or high school level preferred.

• Knowledge of wrestling rules, techniques, and strategies.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.

• Strong work ethic and commitment to student success.

• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

• Ability to demonstrate wrestling techniques.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment.
