Position Overview: Technology Support Specialist The Technology Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of technology throughout the district. This position focuses on maintaining the district's Chromebook fleet, overseeing ticketing systems, supporting staff and students with physical and digital technology needs, and managing technology processes to enhance learning and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Chromebook Fleet Management: ? Maintain accurate inventory of the Chromebook (CB) fleet using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and other tools. ? Ensure devices are regularly updated, provisioned, and deprovisioned for new and departing staff and students. ? Perform in-house repairs, manage devices sent for vendor repairs, and maintain efficient labeling systems. ? Oversee CB inventory for repair, ensuring devices are tracked and organized. ? Update device configurations, backgrounds, settings, and bookmarks for consistency and usability. Technology Ticketing System: ? Process all technology requests through the web-based ticketing system. ? Categorize incoming tickets and assign them to appropriate team members for resolution. ? Ensure timely responses to all tickets and maintain documentation for transparency and accountability. Physical Technology Support: ? Address on-site technology issues such as flat panel displays, printers, projectors, and computer labs. ? Coordinate delivery and collection of Chromebook repairs, ensuring prompt and efficient service. Data Management and Automation: ? Manage student data storage, software platforms, hardware, and computer networks. ? Automate processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Seasonal Tasks: ? Beginning of Year (BOY):
? Ensure all new students and staff have configured devices. ? Distribute and configure CB carts for elementary schools. ? Update backgrounds, templates, and grade-level OUs in Google Admin. ? Ensure no expired devices are deployed and maintain spare devices in each cart.
? During the School Year: ? Configure and distribute kiosk fleets for testing sessions and special events. ? Maintain registrar and elementary CB fleets, updating OS versions and device assignments as needed. ? Label devices for easy identification and ensure accurate tracking in Google Workspace. ? Summer Tasks: ? Assign and distribute summer school CB fleets. ? Retrieve and reintegrate devices into inventory after summer programs.
Additional Responsibilities: ? Manage account creation and demographic updates across systems such as Alma SIS and Clever IDM. ? Handle Chromebook loaner systems and ensure adequate device availability for front office staff. ? Regularly clean, powerwash, and re-enroll returned devices for redistribution. ? Monitor device activity for lost or duplicated units and manage user/device OUs in Google Admin. Requirements: ? Willingness to drive personal vehicle to schools around the district daily. (gas reimbursement sheets available) ? Familiarity with Google Workspace and its admin tools. ? Strong organizational skills for tracking and managing device inventories. ? Technical troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and network issues. ? Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. ? Experience with managing ticketing systems and documenting processes. ? Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff, students, and team members. ? Experience with computer hardware and related peripheral upgrades, troubleshooting and repair. ? Good communication skills. ? Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. ? Must be able to collaborate effectively with staff and team members. ? Working knowledge of current popular operating systems. ? Ability to analyze and problem solve. Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience with Chromebook fleet management and repair. ? Knowledge of SIS platforms like Alma and integration tools such as Clever IDM. ? Familiarity with vendor repair processes, including ticket submissions and shipment coordination. ? Experience with user ticketing systems for incident resolution. ? Experience with current popular office productivity software.
